Ok, as you can tell, I gave up. Don't like the new one any better than my old one though its more conventionally ugly. SO its back to 'split pea', until some kind soul offers help.

My cousin just called from australia!!! YEAH.
Ok, technical advice requested on:

1. How to make my post box thing bigger.
2. How to get rid of old tags.
3. Some other design than pink stars.

This is what happens when you cut and paste without knowing anything:) It's actually the blog shared by my sis and I shares--I was desperate to get rid of the ugly design.
Yeah!

Ok, someone tell me how to get rid of the old messages on the tagboard. I essentially cut and pasted.
Did I do it? Hell, they said something about needing to 'republish' my blog'.

As of the day before yesterday, people know my blog address! I am no longer writing to myself!

I must really learn html. Upgrade myself! Be a value-added worker of the 21st century workforce! (THough I doubt learning html will really put me above anyone in this high-tech world).

But of course, the final aim: make this green thing look better!

I have a really bad cough. My lungs feel like they're full of soup and my oesophagus/windpipe/gullet/throat/whatever feels swollen and inflamed. I'm even too tired to breathe properly. I cough up these green blobs that I presume are full of dead germs.

I just realised that ideas and thoughts that sound rather nice in your head can end up looking really stupid in black and white (or rather, green and black...). The Warpy story, for example. And many other of my deep insights that I will soon post up but will not recreate the same kind of realisations that I had when I first had them.

Ah well.

That's how books sell.

Now waiting for my sis to come online...

Warpy Story
Once a upon a time, there was a bunch of little creatures called Warpies. Their main aim in life is to get over this great, tall wall, so that they can be on The Other Side. Hence, as civilisation progressed and technology advanced, they built this great ladder, to climb over the great wall.

Things go step by step, of course, so lessons were provided as to climbing the ladder. Young warpies from birth were taught how to best advance on each step, so that in future, they can best climb the ladder. Books were written on leg lifting techniques for the ladder steps.

Then a new breed of warpies came about. They were bowlegged, making it impossible for them to climb the ladder. Day after day, year after year they practised, until some of them, although few could manage to scale half the ladder. That was considered an Achievement for them. They wrote more books on scaling the ladder, and invented new techniques on ladder climbing.

What many of them didn't realise was that they had webbed feet that could stick to the wall, allowing to climb it even faster. They were so caught up with trying to climb the ladder, that they forgot their end point was to scale over the wall.

This essentially rather dumb story is to illustrate how so many humans forget what their end point in life is, and the end point of so many processes like education, career and so on.

Let's take career as an example. Some people have well-paying jobs that they hate to the core, yet they refuse to give it up out of 'pragmatism', for the money it pays. Yet what is the whole point of having lots of money? In the end, its so that we can buy more things, pamper ourselves a little more--to make ourselves happier. If the job is going to make your life miserable, then what's the point?

I think there's a distinct difference between people who have considered their objectives before making a decision and those who haven't, even if the ultimate decision is the same. Only then do we find meaning in what we do.

Ok, my sis replied!

Chatted with her online yesterday but kind of daoed her...not very nice thing to do but I was irritated after a while. I waited for one hour for her to go online and she was researching other stuff so didn't really concentrate on our conversation. BUt its ok, meeting again tonight:)

I feel like there's a growing distance between the both of us, like what's happening with my cousin. I'm just not a high-tech person...I think will never really feel close or connected to a person chatting online. I'm a face-to-face kind of old-fashioned gal.

I'm quite glad I stayed home today (though not much of a choice cos I woke up at nine thirty with sand in my throat), after sleeping 14 hours I see things in a much clearer perspective. I shall get out of the depressed self-pitying mode. I was feeling like everyone's leaving me...my closest cousin off to AUstralia to study on Feb, now my sis to India and Japan, then Judith off to Australia too at the end of the year. Was crying on the way home last Saturday (I think I freaked out a few people who thought I just broke up with someone, cos I was like, crying and walking) because I just suddenly felt lonely. It was the thought of eating lunch alone that suddenly sparked it all off, I think, usually would eat with my sis. Called a few people to ask if they wanted lunch, but everyone's busy and I didn't want to make them feel obliged so didn't start pouring out my soul. Just missed having someone to talk to! As in, really talk to.

And I just wish my mum would get better. SOmetimes I feel like crying too when I look at her...she's been aging so fast since she's gotten sick. It's the constant pain, I think. Plus my grandma is sick too and she's the only one at home to take care, most of the time. On retrospect, though, we've gotten a lot closer these few months. At first I didn't want my parents to go off XInjiang or where ever for tour during my prelims, but now I hope she can go.

But now the gloom has generally lifted. SLeeping really helps, I recommend it to anyone who's in a bad mood. Things will get better. My sister and my cousin are linked by blood ties and years of being very close, so geographical distance is no match for that. My mum will get better, once doctors discover what exactly she's suffering from. OR with some miraculous fungi or something. My studies will, er, eventually get better once I draw up the mood to get my life in order (really, I'm irritated with myself--what's the point of going to school if I don't bring the right notes more than half the time?)

Just discovered that livejournal allows pple to post up comments without me having to put up a tagboard or anything. Ah but well, no one knows about my blog yet so that doesn't matter. Rather weird, Xuwen, since I thought the whole point of this is to let other pple sympathise with you. BUt well, its rather private so shall see if I want to let others know about it...

But seriously, I just realised the attraction of this over a private diary because it feels better to pretend to write to someone, even if you're not really.

Argh. My throat still feels lousy. I may be falling sick--AGAIN! argh! Shall consume more liquid than I already am. Maybe I will change the bedsheets or something; get rid of old germs.
You know, this is pretty irritating because I don't like writing to myself. But the people who are supposed to be replying to my entries are not (glare) so I don't have anyone else to write to.

Was just thinking about SIA and market segmentation the other day. I think budget airlines came about due to the evolving global landscape--travel used to be a luxury when people went on tours, or for very rich people to conduct their business. Now as the necessity for travel round the world increases, different markets emerge. An anology can be drawn to public transport: their are cabs, buses so on and so forth, targeted at different groups. In a few years' time, SIA may have to decide on its target market, instead of trying to keep the consumer base it has now and losing it.

For a while I had been puzzling over economic systems in general and how economic growth played a role in the development of civilisations. THe whole money sytem is all so complicated. THen I figured that humans are still progressing like they always have...technological development and increased productive capabilities, hence improved welfare, and our complicated economic system is really just a way of distributing it around. You know, circular flow of income and all that. Multiplier effect. It all became clear in an instant, though I don't quite know how to explain it now.

I was cheated of my donut this morning. I bit into it as part of my normal breakfast routine and discovered it to be empty (as in, a hole in it, big one). It was an unnoticed air bubble that subsequently expanded in the oven to claim most of my donut:(

Remembered my F & N classes in RGS. DO you know that traditional donuts are deep-fried? THat's what really distinguished them from bread. Now they're baked (so they're just bread with a hole in the center, and sugar), though, for health and cholesterol reasons. I fried them before. Very nice, but Really oily. Still can recall the way they expanded in the oil--imagine the rate of oil absorbtion!

Btw, just visited my own blog and found out firsthand how ugly it really is.

Decided to get a blog!

I bet it's going to look truly awful and truly boring because I suck at html or whatever IT skills required to decorate it in a nice unique manner.

Hmm.

Feel like I should write something momentous and ground-breaking in my very first entry, but honestly can think of nothing of that nature.

Ok, about my life today, then.

Took the math test today. Lost a confirmed 17 marks, but otherwise its fine. Then took MRt to CHinese Gardens to LIn Zi's house, where we spent one hour plus talking about Taiwan elections, Bush and ghost stories.

Some day this blog will have my deep insights and the crystallised essence of my thoughts.

BUt it is not this day.

On the account of me getting lamer and being very tired, I shall stop here for now.
