You know, this is pretty irritating because I don't like writing to myself. But the people who are supposed to be replying to my entries are not (glare) so I don't have anyone else to write to.
Was just thinking about SIA and market segmentation the other day. I think budget airlines came about due to the evolving global landscape--travel used to be a luxury when people went on tours, or for very rich people to conduct their business. Now as the necessity for travel round the world increases, different markets emerge. An anology can be drawn to public transport: their are cabs, buses so on and so forth, targeted at different groups. In a few years' time, SIA may have to decide on its target market, instead of trying to keep the consumer base it has now and losing it.
For a while I had been puzzling over economic systems in general and how economic growth played a role in the development of civilisations. THe whole money sytem is all so complicated. THen I figured that humans are still progressing like they always have...technological development and increased productive capabilities, hence improved welfare, and our complicated economic system is really just a way of distributing it around. You know, circular flow of income and all that. Multiplier effect. It all became clear in an instant, though I don't quite know how to explain it now.
I was cheated of my donut this morning. I bit into it as part of my normal breakfast routine and discovered it to be empty (as in, a hole in it, big one). It was an unnoticed air bubble that subsequently expanded in the oven to claim most of my donut:(
Remembered my F & N classes in RGS. DO you know that traditional donuts are deep-fried? THat's what really distinguished them from bread. Now they're baked (so they're just bread with a hole in the center, and sugar), though, for health and cholesterol reasons. I fried them before. Very nice, but Really oily. Still can recall the way they expanded in the oil--imagine the rate of oil absorbtion!
Btw, just visited my own blog and found out firsthand how ugly it really is.
