I went for college day yesterday, which turned out to be quite amusing, mainly due to the conversation I was having with the person sitting beside me. First the guest of honour, Tharman's picture was flashed up on the screen, with an expression commonly seen in many obituaries. Directly below it were the words:
Guest of Honour
Tharman Shanaguratnam
Minister of Education
Naturally we both commented that it looked like words on a tombstone.
Grand music then started playing in the background, and a procession of 8 people wearing black suits with a white flower pinned at the breast came up on stage.
We also spent some time marvelling at how different Kylash looked with his new hairstyle, a curly mess on his head. Later we realised that it was not Kylash at all, but his brother, which explained the dissimilar features as well.
I recieved a surprisingly large number of birthday wishes this year, from several whom I thought I lost contact with. I also got a fair number of furry presents. A black furry pencil case, a pink furry handphone pouch, a furry rainbow snake, and a furry flower cushion. I appreciate the thought, I really do, although I must admit to have avoided this category of items since primary school. I blame it all on my cartoon T-shirts.
I had an interesting conversation with my mother on the day before.
Mother: "What do you want for your birthday?"
Me: "An MP3 player with my favourite songs in it."
Mother: "Really? But you don't listen to music much."
Me: "That's because I don't have an MP3 player with my favourite songs in it."
Mother: "Oh. Anyway it's too late, because we (parents) have already bought you your present."
Oh well.
